With the majority of recipes belonging to the Afghan food, other continental & middle eastern recipes that are commonly popular among Afghans are affiliated with this book.
The recipes in the book primarily have two things in common: simplicity in presentation and the availability of ingredients in Kabul's bazaars. Each recipe has been attributed to its contributor, showing his or her affiliation. To assist the reader in appreciating the national origin of each recipe, the affiliation of the contributor is indicated against the origin. The exceptions are in cases where the nationality of the contributor does not correspond to the country of the diplomatic representation or the contributor was affiliated with an international organization. Although the majority of the book's contributors have been women, enthusiasm for the project was also shared by several of the book's male supporters who provided recipes
