With some 730 pages of text and 500 pictures (most of them in color), this book must be coveted by anyone with a serious interest in Zoroastrianism or the art and culture of the Middle East or India. Each chapter consists of an essay by a different authority on a particular aspect: the teachings of Zoroaster; the mythology; Zoroastrianism in Iran, & Judaism, & Christianity; Bombay Parsis; dress; Parsi Costumes, textiles, trade; art. The pictures of artifacts and art are excellent, so too are the maps and the contemporary photographs. As well as being a work of considerable scholarship, this book is beautifully produced, a worthy monument to a culture.
