Description

About This Book:

An Introduction the Coup d`etat of April 1978 and its Consequanence in Afghanistan is written by Candidate Academician Mohammad Azam Sistani ex-Chairman of Afghanistan Institute of Social Studies.

This is his Thirteenth Published Book about Afghanistan. The book has an introduction, three chapters and Conclusion.

The First Chapter Begins with an Analysis of USSR` Strategy and its attempts to influence this Country and the controversies between Pakistan and Afghanistan about Pashtunestan and Iran`s Intermediation to Solve These Problems Between 1974 and 1978.

In the second chapter the writer examines the People`s Democratic Party (Communist Party), Coup d`etat of 1978 and USSR`S consequent intervention in Afghanistan and Afghan Resistance movements with the support of USA and the other Countries in the region.

Chapter three is a profound of study of religious and ethnic wars between Islamic Parties for taking political  power in the last three years (1992-1994) after overthrowing of the Communist regime.

The book concludes with a summary of the first three chapters and analyses aspects and consequences of the Coup d`etat of April 1978 in Afghanistan. Discussion about the Communist Party`s character is the most interesting part of this chapter.

As the title of the book implies this work is an introduction of events of the Coup d`etat of April, the writer`s Ambition may be to continue the subject. Nevertheless this work itself is a profound study of political and Social events in Afghanistan in the last two decades.

Mohammad Azam Sistani helps us understand what happens currently in Afghanistan and because he has neither been a member of the Communist party nor a member of any Islamic Organisations, he could Independently describe the events of Afghanistan. His work is a reliable source of Afghanistan`s Modern history.
